Independent providers
- Perform tree removal, pruning, excavation, crane work, loading, and hauling.
- Perform milling, kiln drying, storage, fabrication, flooring manufacture, and installation.
- Set their own prices and provide their own contracts, licenses, insurance, warranties, and work methods.
- Are hired and paid directly by the property owner.
Why this distinction matters: California regulates contracting work, including tree and palm work. Root2Room does not represent that it performs regulated contracting work itself or through others, and does not negotiate a contractor's home-improvement contract on that contractor's behalf.
Permits & responsible movement
The wood may be yours. The rules still depend on where the tree is.
Removal requirements can vary by city, county, species, property, development approval, coastal location, street-tree status, HOA rules, or other restrictions. Wildlife protections may also apply to active nests. In addition, plant-pest quarantines can restrict movement of certain logs, green lumber, firewood, or living plant material.
The property owner and the professional performing or transporting the work are responsible for confirming required permits, approvals, licenses, and lawful movement before work begins.
Root2Room can flag issues that appear to deserve further review, but does not issue permits, provide legal advice, or guarantee that a tree may lawfully be removed or transported.

A secondary path for palms & living specimens
Some trees are better kept alive.
Most palms do not follow the same lumber path as conventional hardwoods. For certain mature palms, olives, or specimen trees, relocation or resale as a living landscape asset may make more sense. We can evaluate whether that alternative appears worth exploring.
